family and goats

a handful of the promised pictures of my sisters-in-law... aren't they beautiful?

the next two are my favorites.

pouty.

as i said, they came up with my father-in-law early in march to visit. we went to the maple syrup festival at burton's maplewood farm. michelle and joanne took an obligatory picture with the horses. :) they also had a petting zoo (gotta love the goats). other than that, we did a lot of hanging around the house and playing games. it was really fun to have them here!

my parents are coming tomorrow (yay!) so i've got to go clean my house... be back again soon!

caden

caden has settled in and we are now a family of five! (yes, i count the pets. maybe once we have children, i'll stop. maybe.) the cats are not totally opposed to him, but they are not buddies yet. he doesn't seem to understand how much bigger he is, and especially how much bigger his paws are.... he smacked avery, trying to get her to play... she didn't like it. luca had his little "field trip" this week. if you don't know what i'm talking about, i'll leave it to your imagination, except to say this: he isn't so interested in looking for a lady friend anymore! no more howling at night, yay! so we're a zoo, but it's fun... caden is bobby's shadow and much prefers him to me, but the cats prefer me, so that's okay. :)

various people have been telling me to post new photos, and i have to admit i'm amazed at how much he's already grown. he isn't a big fan of the camera (i.e. thinks it's a really bright monster) and tries to get in my lap the whole time i try to take shots of him. alas, i only grabbed a few before i gave up. i need to try outside, now that the weather is warmer.

our garden is definitely coming in now. we've already had crocuses come and go, and the daffodils started blooming yesterday. i noticed that the hostas are coming back and the tulips have buds already. i think my lily of the valley is coming up too, but i'm not sure if it's that or something else. never can tell in our yard. we've been working like crazy trying to get things in order (first removing the leaves we never raked last fall), and we're probably behind, but it's pretty anyway! the plan is to do some work tomorrow and maybe i'll do some before and after shots.

that's about all the news i've got... not doing as much photo stuff as i'd like, but i do have a few jobs in the works, and several weddings through the summer and fall. three i'm doing with a good friend, and then i'm actually shooting her wedding, which i'm super excited about!

bobby's dad and two sisters came to visit in early march, which was really fun. we finally were able to set up the guest bedroom, and we did some fun stuff together. i also did some shots of the girls for Grandma Mac, and i promise to post those in the next few days...

feel free to comment -- i love comments, because then i don't feel like i'm talking to myself (which maybe i am, aside from my mom). :)

the new addition to the family...

we haven't named him and he hasn't come home yet, so this may be premature, but i thought i'd share nonetheless.

we found him at the bartholomew cty humane society. he'd only been there less than a day, and he isn't trained at all. he's very submissive, so we'll have to work with him so that he begins to trust us. we went yesterday and worked with him on leash training. after about 45 minutes he seemed to forget he was even on a leash, so i'm thinking he's a quick learner. :)

he wasn't much of a fan of sitting still for pictures...sorry for the blur!

more pictures to come once he's home.... and i'm sure interesting stories about his introduction to the cats!

a winter wedding, etc.

hello! we are back home after a very nice christmas holiday... we went to atlanta for christmas at mammy's house (my grandmother) and then to savannah for a few days with my parents (where it was 80 and sunny!), back to atlanta, back to columbus for one night, and then to madison, wi to see our friends derek and jenni get married! it was a beautiful wedding and we're so happy for them! it is nice to be home again after such a whirlwind couple of weeks, though.

and at the wedding, ready to party!

i snagged a few shots (well, a lot of shots) at the reception. it was held at the madison club in downtown madison, which was a beautiful venue. here is a sampling - the rest are on facebook.

and for your viewing pleasure, may i introduce luca, the squeaking cat, and avery, his silent but trusty sidekick:

thanksgiving

wow, i can't believe it's already been over a month since i posted anything on here! the short version of what's happened since then:

1. we found a home for two of the kittens and said goodbye to Guiness and Samuel... they got to stay together, so that was awesome.

2. Lucca found his permanent home with us, and he and Avery are enjoying being spoiled rotten by the two of us... they never dreamed of a life this great.

3. i got really sick and missed several days of work. no fun. :(

4. we went to texas for thanksgiving and bobby killed a hog, and then they (the men) buried it in the ground because it wouldn't have tasted good (nor would i have cooked it, but that's another story). my sis in law, joanne, and i got up at 4:30 am and went shopping on black friday... we had a ton of fun and i bought rugs for the house - a very good thing, except we need one more, and i can't find the same pattern anywhere.

5. we bought a new (to us) car from bobby's grandmother... very exciting!

6. i threw a bridal shower last saturday for jenni, my friend in columbus who is getting married to our other friend, derek, in madison, wi on january 4. we're going and i'm super excited! she's wearing my veil as her "something borrowed"! :)

7. i then drove to atlanta to see sara, one of my roommates in college and one of my best friends...and drove back the next morning. i figure my crazy days will come to an end in the next few years, so why not be crazy now?! we had a blast seeing each other, even if it was brief.

and that brings us to today... surely we've done more than that since october. seems like more than that has happened, but i'm blanking on it now. oh well.

time flies... it will be christmas before we know it. i've hardly started christmas shopping. lots to do in between now and then, and lots of other stuff going on in our lives...but i'm really looking forward to going home and seeing my family.

a few pictures from thanksgiving and then i'm off ... bobby's making dinner for me and my belly's growling!

more later....
