i left the laundry room door open earlier tonight, and that's where we keep the kitty weed (catnip)... we were talking in another room, and caden ran in with the little pouch of catnip in his mouth. we came back into the kitchen and found luca, lolling about on the floor, covered in catnip....

then avery got a hold of it and wouldn't give it back to me!

crazy cats!

caden

caden has settled in and we are now a family of five! (yes, i count the pets. maybe once we have children, i'll stop. maybe.) the cats are not totally opposed to him, but they are not buddies yet. he doesn't seem to understand how much bigger he is, and especially how much bigger his paws are.... he smacked avery, trying to get her to play... she didn't like it. luca had his little "field trip" this week. if you don't know what i'm talking about, i'll leave it to your imagination, except to say this: he isn't so interested in looking for a lady friend anymore! no more howling at night, yay! so we're a zoo, but it's fun... caden is bobby's shadow and much prefers him to me, but the cats prefer me, so that's okay. :)

various people have been telling me to post new photos, and i have to admit i'm amazed at how much he's already grown. he isn't a big fan of the camera (i.e. thinks it's a really bright monster) and tries to get in my lap the whole time i try to take shots of him. alas, i only grabbed a few before i gave up. i need to try outside, now that the weather is warmer.

our garden is definitely coming in now. we've already had crocuses come and go, and the daffodils started blooming yesterday. i noticed that the hostas are coming back and the tulips have buds already. i think my lily of the valley is coming up too, but i'm not sure if it's that or something else. never can tell in our yard. we've been working like crazy trying to get things in order (first removing the leaves we never raked last fall), and we're probably behind, but it's pretty anyway! the plan is to do some work tomorrow and maybe i'll do some before and after shots.

that's about all the news i've got... not doing as much photo stuff as i'd like, but i do have a few jobs in the works, and several weddings through the summer and fall. three i'm doing with a good friend, and then i'm actually shooting her wedding, which i'm super excited about!

bobby's dad and two sisters came to visit in early march, which was really fun. we finally were able to set up the guest bedroom, and we did some fun stuff together. i also did some shots of the girls for Grandma Mac, and i promise to post those in the next few days...

feel free to comment -- i love comments, because then i don't feel like i'm talking to myself (which maybe i am, aside from my mom). :)

the new addition to the family...

we haven't named him and he hasn't come home yet, so this may be premature, but i thought i'd share nonetheless.

we found him at the bartholomew cty humane society. he'd only been there less than a day, and he isn't trained at all. he's very submissive, so we'll have to work with him so that he begins to trust us. we went yesterday and worked with him on leash training. after about 45 minutes he seemed to forget he was even on a leash, so i'm thinking he's a quick learner. :)

he wasn't much of a fan of sitting still for pictures...sorry for the blur!

more pictures to come once he's home.... and i'm sure interesting stories about his introduction to the cats!

a winter wedding, etc.

hello! we are back home after a very nice christmas holiday... we went to atlanta for christmas at mammy's house (my grandmother) and then to savannah for a few days with my parents (where it was 80 and sunny!), back to atlanta, back to columbus for one night, and then to madison, wi to see our friends derek and jenni get married! it was a beautiful wedding and we're so happy for them! it is nice to be home again after such a whirlwind couple of weeks, though.

and at the wedding, ready to party!

i snagged a few shots (well, a lot of shots) at the reception. it was held at the madison club in downtown madison, which was a beautiful venue. here is a sampling - the rest are on facebook.

and for your viewing pleasure, may i introduce luca, the squeaking cat, and avery, his silent but trusty sidekick:

textures (and kitties!)

we have some kittens who have somehow very firmly established themselves as residents in our home... we are hoping to find permanent homes for two of them soon, so if you know of anyone who might want a new friend..... they're extremely cuddly and cute (in fact, one of them is curled up in my lap as i type this!). a boy and a girl - both of whom would love to stay together. just let me know if you are interested or know someone who might be (please!) -- em.mcwilliams@gmail.com

a few of the kitties...

in other news, life is incredibly busy. my parents were visiting a couple of weekends back, and we walked around downtown. here are some images i got in the parking garage... love all the texture!

and one of avery (in laundry jail)...

that's all for now... off to bed...

home

we just got back from a whirlwind weekend trip to savannah... sanders, my brother, is moving to france in a few days. he'll be gone almost a year, so we wanted to see him before he went... i'm still crossing my fingers that we'll somehow find a way to go see him in rennes too! :)

the other reason for our trip was that my childhood dog, bessie (aka bestie-beastie or bestie-beesting or elizabeth - her formal name), isn't doing so well. she is about 15 years old and has "arf-ritis" and doggie alzheimer's (or so we think). i was happy to get to see her and took tons of pictures of all of the animals (the only one missing here is midnight...she's a little shy in front of the camera). here are a few favorites...
